Utmost Importance: Rob Bell

On Justin Taylor’s blog, there is a video from Rob Bell promoting his new book, Love Wins.

In case you don’t know Rob Bell, he is the leader of Mars Hill Bible Church in Michigan. He started Mars Hill in 1999 and in an article in Christianity Today, he states in part, “We’re rediscovering Christianity as an Eastern religion, as a way of life. Legal metaphors for faith don’t deliver a way of life…”

My thought on this is, if you have to “rediscover” Chrisitianity, what  exactly are you discovering?  Are you saying that historical Christianity is wrong?  Where is your scriptural basis to back up your theory? Continue reading

Utmost Importance: The Emergent Church

I just had a new thought. I have been absent from the blogging world for a while, because I always seem to want that big, attention grabbing post, and I just haven’t had the inspiration for it (yet).

Brokenness

A couple of days ago I listened to a sermon on Brokenness from Voddie Baucham (which I subsequently found on YouTube so you can hear it too).

First, I have heard Voddie Baucham speak before, and not only is he one of the smartest apologetics that I have heard, he is one of the smartest all around men I have heard, not to mention he has an amazing testimony.

I highly encourage you to take an hour of your time and listen to this sermon on brokenness. God speaks in His time, and I think He was speaking to me through Voddie and He might do the same for you. Continue reading
