Welcome to my blog! I have titled this blog “Lost & Found” – which will be the name of my first book, if I ever finish it!
The definition of lost is “unable to find one’s way; beyond recovery or redemption; fallen or destroyed.”
That is exactly what I was. I was lost in my own sin and darkness. I was a bornsinner (as we all are) and I couldn’t do anything to save myself from eternal punishment (AKA hell).
It is only by the grace of God that I have been found in Him. He sent His Son to pay for my sins. He sent His Son to pay for all of our sins if we repent and believe.
The definition of found is “to establish or set up, especially with provision for continuing existence.” I did not find God. I was dead in my sin, and I could do nothing to find God – God found me. I have been found in Christ. He is my foundation. And it is only through Him that I have eternal life.
My hope is that you will be able to realize this as well for your own life, if you haven’t already.
This blog it is mostly about Bible topics, although I may throw in other stuff at times. I appreciate any comments you have. To read my policy on commenting, click here.
Ephesians 2:8-9 – For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
My life verse: Romans 12:2 – Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
And finally, possibly one of the greatest passages in the Bible, and may my life truly reflect what Paul has said here:
But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith– that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
– Phil 3:7-14
– Adam Smith
P.S. I get asked a lot what type of church I go to. My answer to that is “irrelevant.” Yes, I am a member of a church and I love it, but take a moment to read my belief statements. I believe the Bible above all else. Religion or denomination is not the “end all.” I am not relying on being a Lutheran, Methodist, Presbertyrian, Baptist, Pentecostal or anything else. I am a Christian. Jesus Christ is my Savior, and I have been saved by the grace of God. That is what it comes down to.
